Dionne' s irreligious politics

Dionne tells us "it's time to free religion from party politics." Most of us couldn't agree more.

We hear it every day when Dionne's like-minded pals talk about "Christian conservatives," "right wing Christian zealots," or "neo-conservatives."

Dionne tells us "200 theologians and church leaders" will soon be issuing a "toughly worded document" condemning America's involvement in unjust wars, like Iraq.

It's a pity these "theologians" couldn't get out this "document" during Clinton's presidency when he got the United States involved in 2 Balkan wars (Bosnia 1995 and Kosovo 1999). Neither of which will pass any threshold test for a "just" war, proposed by the Brookings/Pew group or the NY Times.

More importantly, it's a pity these "theologians" cannot declare war on abortion, "partial" or otherwise.

Dionne like-minded pals are worried about the loss of blood in an "unjust war" in Iraq. Is it unreasonable to ask where their outrage is over the 1 million abortions that are performed in our country each year?

September 19th, Nat Hentoff, a pro-life liberal, writing in The Washington Times, tells us:
"In the Feb. 26, 1997, New York Times, Ron Fitzsimmons, the executive director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers, disconcerted his colleagues by estimating that up to 5,000 partial-birth abortions were performed annually; and, he added, 'in the vast majority of cases' on 'a healthy mother with a healthy fetus that is 20 weeks or more along.'"

Hentoff states in the 30 years between 1973, when Roe v. Wade was issued, to 2003, there are some estimates that as many as 44 million abortions have been performed in the United States.

One thing is certain, you will NEVER hear or read Dionne condemn the cruel, inhumane, barbaric practice of partial birth abortion.
